Community: Learning and building connections

"In going around the community here, I run into so many of our students who are graduates who are now doctors and lawyers and dentists and teachers and nurses, business people and police officers, who many of whom probably would not have been able to have gotten through college if IUK were not here. So, to that degree anyways, this is a vital institution in the community because the contributions these people are making probably is a lot higher than it would have been otherwise had they not been able to go on and become teachers and doctors and lawyers and so on."

"I think [IUK] has done very well if you look at the number of people in Kokomo and the surrounding areas who got an education because IUK was here who probably wouldn't have, or, at least, it would have been much more difficult. It's really helped a lot of people. A whole generation of people have been helped here."

"I think over time a number of community leaders have earned their degrees at IUK, and so, in some ways IUK has, has for them been a way of opening doors to places that were otherwise unavailable to them. And so, since it worked for them they know it will work for other people in the community."
